If There Are Repeated Paper Jams
Paper jams can occur repeatedly when the roller is not operating correctly, or paper is not loaded
correctly. Paying attention to the following points, reload the paper or clean the roller.
When A Document Is Jammed In The ADF
Removing A Jammed Document
If a document jams in the ADF or a document longer than 3 3/8 ft. (1m) cannot be fed properly,
<CLEAR PAPER JAM> is displayed on the LCD. Press [OK]. There is no need to turn off the
power before removing the jammed document from the ADF.
Follow this procedure:
1 Press [Stop/Reset].
2 If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any pages other than the jammed
page from the ADF.

Roller Is the roller clean? If the roller is dirty, clean it. (See
page 139.)
Is the roller operating properly? If the roller is not operating properly,
contact your local authorised Canon
dealer or the Canon help line.
Paper Do the sheets of paper stick together? Fan the sheets of paper well before
loading.
Are the edges of the paper aligned? Align the edges of the paper.
Is the paper guide adjusted correctly? Adjust the paper guide correctly.
Does the paper stack exceed the paper
limit mark?
Make sure the paper stack does not
exceed the paper limit mark when
loading. (See page 25.)
Is there any different type of paper in
the paper stack?
Only use the same type of paper.
Does the paper meet the requirements
of this machine?
Use the paper meeting the requirements
of this machine. (See page 25.)
